Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Islam teaches that humans are stewards of the earth, tasked with protecting and nurturing the environment. The Quran speaks about the balance of nature and emphasizes that all of creation, including animals, plants, and the earth itself, belongs to Allah. As caretakers, Muslims are encouraged to preserve the environment for future generations and to live in harmony with nature.
In Quran 6:141, Allah says, "He it is who causes gardens to grow trellised and untrellised, and date palms, and crops of different shape and taste, and olives, and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar." This verse underscores the diversity and beauty of the natural world, reminding believers to appreciate and protect the environment. Additionally, the Quran prohibits wastefulness, urging Muslims to only take what is necessary and avoid extravagance in all aspects of life.
The teachings of Islam also highlight the importance of sustainable living. Muslims are encouraged to plant trees, conserve water, and minimize harm to wildlife. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that even planting a tree or providing water to animals brings great reward. By following these principles, Muslims can contribute to the preservation of the earth, fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.
